Senior Men get off to a great start in BWPL Div 2

Exeter Water Polo

Exeter men got their BWPL 23/24 season off to a fantastic start with two wins from two games in Bolton over the weekend.

Their opening fixture saw them go up against a Watford side who had beaten them at the same stage last season. A tight match, Exeter made the third quarter decisive, pulling out a 6-goal lead and never looked backed. Some top saves from Toby Hogg and goal contributions from Charlie Noyce & Kamz Powell saw a final score of 18-13.

Sunday saw a real nail-biter against a strong Portobello side. Starting fast, Exeter flew into a 5-1 lead before the Scots started to come back into the game. A rallying cry from captain Alex Marcos at the start of the fourth quarter is what the players needed. Goals were shared between both sides before a crucial Ruben Powell penalty just 2 minutes from the end sealed the points.

Some excellent performances all weekend saw some younger team members get plenty of minutes and make positive contributions to the team.

The first weekend of results makes the league look tighter than ever, and the second weekend will be crucial if Exeter are going to qualify for Championship 1.
