Exeter Women opened their account for the 2023/24 BWPL Division 2 season in style at the weekend with an emphatic 10-7 victory over Tyldesley.

A well-taken man-up goal from Madeleine Crow gave Exeter the lead inside the first 2 minutes of the game however Tyldesely fought back to lead at the end of the first quarter 4-2. Unanswered second-quarter goals from Tula Rimmer, Camryn Davidson and Jo Lamont Tuckett gave Exeter a slender 5-4 lead at the halfway stage. A resolute defensive performance including some excellent saves from stalwart goalkeeper Nina Rickards helped to close out a 10-7 victory, including a last-second goal scored by Nina well inside her own half.

Sundays game was a very different affair, playing against a well-drilled Liverpool side, Exeter raced to a 5-1 lead midway through the second period including a pair of spectacular goals from distance by centre-back Raewyn Newmarch. In the second half Liverpool fought back with a number of clinical man ups. Exeter left a lot of goals in the pool with some wasteful finishing before they found their range again with goals coming from Felicity Tuckett, Jasmin Coleman and Darcey Tomlinson. The game finished 12-9, resulting in a vital 2 points for Exeter, which inches to the top of the league after the first weekend.
