U17 Bristol and West - League Winners!

A clean sweep for Exeter in all three of the 2023 Junior Bristol & West League competitions.

Our U17 team followed their U13 & U15 counterparts in powering through at Millfield School in Somerset yesterday, seeing off City of Bristol in the semi-final and going on to beat Welsh Wanderers in the gold medal match.

Coach Andy Saulter congratulated his team for "their really great work ethic and support for each other" as Exeter took the title convincingly.

The match against Bristol showed our strong teamwork as, no-less-than, eight of our players ended up on the scoresheet with the game ending in a triumphant 24-5 win.

The final against the Welsh was a more challenging affair, but Exeter went ahead early in the first quarter and never relinquished their lead.

Some impressive defending, excellently-placed passing out from goalie Lukas and great assists & goals from many of our players throughout the match meant that the Welsh just couldn't get back at us. Exeter ended up victorious with the final score at 17-8.

After the Exeter U17 boys came 4th in the country a few weeks back, with the help of a couple of feisty female players this time, they showed that they are definitely the best in the west!

Well done to the whole team - including those who, due to imminent GCSEs, couldn't make the final. You all played your part in gaining us the 2023 trophy!
