Superb England '05 performance for Exeter's Reuben Powell

Exeter Water Polo

Well done, and congrats to Reuben!

Exeter’s Reuben Powell competed for the England 05 squad this Easter in the EU Nations Tournament held in Brno, Czech Republic.

The squad got off to a good start with a convincing 18-10 win vs Luxembourg, followed by a tight 13-13 draw vs tournament runners up Lithuania which placed England into the 5-8 place categorisation tournament by 1 goal difference.

They overcame a determined 06 age group GB squad 12-10, before hard-fought losses to firstly the Czech Republic supported by a partisan crowd 11-10, then Austria 20-12 left them with a final position of 7th in the tournament.

Reuben was the top goal scorer for England with 18 goals, 5th overall in the tournament.

He had the following to say:

“The boys performed well over the five games. We definitely grew into a more jelled team by the end of the competition. It was a great experience for myself and the lads, always nice to come away with a few good results to keep spirits high going forward.”
